He started his career in Šibenik, then continued at Cibona, Real Madrid and the NBA clubs Portland Trail Blazers and New Jersey Nets. His ascending basketball career and an overwhelming charisma was abruptly stopped due to a traffic accident in which Dražen lost his life in 1993. In 2002 he entered the House of Fame. In Šibenik, next to the Sports Hall at Baldekin, you can visit his bronze statue and the Memorial Museum opened by his mother Biserka in the apartment at Buale where they lived, and Dražen Petrović Square, where there is a three-dimensional basketball and a cast bronze of Dražen's sneakers he used to wear while playing in Šibenik.
