Šibensko kazalište

The Croatian National Theatre in Šibenik was founded in 1945, and today's Šibenik Theatre is its successor. Before the current building was built, performances were held at a number of locations throughout the city: in Dobrić, in the Dukes Palace, in the „Old Theater“which was located in the former building on the north side, along the eastern city wall. Today’s theatre has been working in the same building since 1870, at that time it was the biggest and most beautiful in Croatia. Having special value in the theatre building is the ceiling above the stage, which was decorated in 1868 with allegoric imagery of renowned people from Šibenik by the artist Antun Zuccaro.
